We had earlier reported the possibility of CP Gurnani taking over as the new CEO of the merged entity. If we look at the reply of Vineet Nayyar in a CNBC TV 18 interview – the possibility of Sonjoy Anand, taking over as the CEO for the newly created entity can not be ruled out. In a CNBC-TV18 interview with CP Gurnani, CEO,Mahindra Satyam ; Sonjoy Anand, CFO, Tech Mahindra and Vineet Nayyar – On being asked if Sonjoy Anand , would take over as the CEO of the new entity – Vineet Nayyar replied – “This is a decision none of us take, so you are perhaps asking the wrong people, but your trajectory may be right.”
CP Gurnani, expected to be the new CEO for the merged entity:
It is learnt that the merged entity would be lead by CP Gurnani, the present CEO of Mahindra Satyam. Satyam’s business achievements and profitability post its acquisition by Mahindra has been credited to his leadership.
Prior to moving to Mahindra Satyam, CP Gurnani headed Tech Mahindra’s Global Operations, Sales and Marketing functions, and led the development of Tech Mahindra’s Competency & Solution units. He has extensive experience in building international business, start-ups, turnarounds, joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions. In a career spanning over 28 years, he has held several leading positions with HCL Hewlett Packard Limited, Perot Systems (India) Limited and HCL Corporation Ltd. Prior to joining Tech Mahindra, CP was the Chief Operating Officer and a co-founder of Perot Systems (India) Limited, initially set up as HCL Perot Systems. At HCL Perot Systems, CP orchestrated the HCL Corporation and Perot Systems joint venture from its inception to making it one of India’s top IT services companies.
Hari Thalapalli, a Satyam veteran who has been with the company for last 11 years – during the company’s rise – the fall and its come back as Mahindra Satyam, is presently handling the Chief Marketing Officer as well as the Chief People Officer role. He is expected to take over the people function of the new entity as the Chief – Human Resources.
Sonjoy Anand expected to be the new Chief Finance Officer
Sonjoy Anand, presently the CFO for Tech Mahindra, with a portfolio comprising of Finance, Legal – Secretarial, M&A, investor relations is expected to take over as the CFO for the amalgamated entity. Sonjoy, is graduate in Economics (Hons.) and a qualified Chartered Accountant, Sonjoy has more than 25 years of experience in Finance and General Management. He has extensive experience covering acquisitions, divestments and formation of joint ventures. Vasanth Krishnan – the present CFO for Mahindra Satyam is expected to move on to a business operations role with the new entity.
It is learnt that the leadership at business verticals & regional positions may not be tinkered with in the immediate context. The company would be allowing cross business movement to employees impacted by the merger subject to certain criteria’s – one of them being – related to their tenure in the business.
