UrbanClap raises $50M from Steadview Capital & Vy Capital.

UrbanClap, a Delhi based Home services start-up, has raised $50 million in primary capital in a Series D funding round led by Steadview Capital Management and existing investor Vy Capital.

According to data from CrunchBase, till now UrbanClap has raised $110 million.

While Steadview Capital has invested about $30 million, Vy Capital has invested the remaining, also this is considered to be the largest fundraising by a company in India’s on-demand services space yet.

UrbanClap helps users hire professionals for home services such as repair and maintenance, home cleaning, homecare and design, packers and movers, beauty, yoga, and fitness.

Founded in 2014,  UrbanClap currently provides services across 10 cities in India.

As of April 2018, the firm clocked 450,000 orders monthly, with an average order value of Rs 1,200-1,500. The gross transaction value of services sold in April alone stood at about Rs 50 crore.

“The core of our business which is beauty, cleaning and repairs is growing faster than before and we will invest deeper in these areas especially with regard to building a supply chain and training of professionals. We know this model works, we now want to be more aggressive in our expansion strategy there,” Co-founder and CEO Abhiraj Bhal told ET.

UrbanClap will use the capital to accelerate the onboarding of both customer and service partners, build stronger teams across product and technology, build training capabilities as also enhance its supply chain of consumables.

The firm is looking to double down on expansion in tier 2 cities and has begun operations in Chandigarh just this week.
