MDP: Creating Cordial Industrial Relations Climate – January 2020

This programme discusses; how corporate HR strategy is linked with Industrial relations (IR) strategy of the firms; different perspectives such as sociological, political, strategic, legal and administrative perspective to develop and maintain cordial industrial relations, status of unions in India and global trend in unions, power dynamics in collective bargaining, brief history and future of unions, and strategies to develop cordial industrial relations in firms through various case studies of industrial unrests. Use of different case studies, sessions by industry expert and academic experts will make learning exciting and meaningful.

Program Objectives:

Brief objectives are as per the following:

  • To help the participants in developing an understanding of the conceptual foundations and practice of Industrial Relations Climate.
  • To expose participants to various Industrial unrest case studies for better understanding of different facet of industrial relations climate.
  • To introduce the complexity of managing unionized employees with a focus on discipline management, best IR practices from different industries, participative management and dynamics of collective bargaining. a
  • To expose participants to the legal environment for managers, constitution laws and labor laws, prevention of sexual harassment of women Act, 2013 and future of labor legislation and Industrial relations.
  • To highlight the various negotiation strategies.
  • To discuss the future of IR.
  • Facilitator-led class exercises /role plays/ use of audio-visual (wherever relevant) in delivering modules.
  • Case studies are highlighting challenges and possible solution for creating cordial industrial relations climate.
  • Union leaders will be sharing their experience to suggest intervention strategies towards harmonization of conflicts and maximization of cordiality.
