The fleet is part of the company’s climate pledge. Bezos has previously announced to make the e-commerce giant net carbon neutral and promised to buy 100,000 electric delivery vans from US start-up Rivian. Cutting carbon footprint is a task for the company that delivers about 10bn items a year. In September last year, Bezos had said that Amazon would rely 100% on clean and renewable energy by 2030.

Bezos who was on a three-day visit to India promised a $1Bn investment in the country. The investment will help digitize micro and small businesses in cities, towns, and villages across the country. He also vowed to export Indian-made products worth $10bn annually creating one million jobs by 2025.
