Kalrock-Jalan consortium approaches Executives to lead New Jet Airways

Jet Airways is close to flying again as new owners look for executives to lead the airline. After winning the bid for Jet Airways, Kalrock Capital-Murari Jalan consortium has approached Aditya Ghosh, Prock Schauer along with some other industry veterans for leadership roles.

Former President and Member of the Board of IndiGo, Aditya Ghosh has turned IndiGo into India’s largest & most profitable airline. A business leader with over 22 years of experience, he is currently a Board Member of Fabindia, a retail platform and OYO and Member of the Advisory Board and Investor at the VC firm, Fireside Ventures. He has also served as Board Member of InterGlobe Hotels and InterGlobe Technologies. 

Meanwhile, Prock Schauer is IndiGo’s President and Chief Operating Officer. A graduate from the University of Economics, Vienna, he has worked with prominent airlines such as Austrian Airlines, Air Berlin and Go Air, to name a few.

Founded by Naresh Goyal, debt-ridden Jet Airways grounded its operations on 17th April, 2019 putting the future of more than 20,000 employees at stake. The airline took off in 2005, and has been one of the largest commercial airlines in India. The airline, being a full service airline, stayed a preferred airline for most corporate travellers. 

The New Jet Airways is set to revive as its new owners – Kalrock Capital and Murari Jalan have reportedly agreed to pump in over $130 million as working capital. Under the ownership of Naresh Goyal, the airline’s creditors were owed Rs 300 billion after the operations were grounded. The investor consortium plans to make the Airways a full service airline by starting with domestic flights. 

Founded by Florian Fritsch, Kalrock Capital is based in London. It provides advisory services in finance, marketing, managerial and legal matters to all its partners.

Murari Lal Jalan is a UAE based businessman who founded realty firm MJ Developers which develops residential and commercial properties in Uzbekistan.
