Barbara Matthews joins Remote as Chief People Officer

Barbara Matthews

Remote, the leader in building, managing, and supporting global distributed workforces, announced that Barbara Matthews has joined as its Chief People Officer.

In her role, she owns the strategic planning, implementation, and scalability of the company through its distributed team around the world, a statement said.

Matthews joins Remote from Stripe, where she helped build the company’s global HR function as its International Head of HR, EMEA & APAC. Prior to Stripe, she spent more than 12 years on the People team at Google. Like all Remote employees, Matthews will work from her chosen location in the world – Dublin, Ireland. She reports directly to CEO Job van der Voort.

“As a fully remote company with team members located across the globe, we recognize that our success hinges on having a people-first approach to our work. Barbara’s experience in building and nurturing high-performing distributed teams will be invaluable as we continue to grow,” said Job van der Voort, co-founder and CEO of Remote.

“As someone who has spent my career working with distributed teams, I am thrilled to join Remote at this pivotal moment in the future of work,” said Matthews. “My focus as Chief People Officer will be to ensure that we provide an environment where our employees can thrive and grow, and to build a culture that supports our vision of making opportunities accessible to everyone.”
