Cognizant COO Srinivasan Veeraraghavachary to step down from the position

IT services giant Cognizant recently announced that its Chief Operating Officer Srinivasan Veeraraghavachary has decided to step down from his position. His resignation adds to the list of senior executives who left the company under new Chief Executive Officer Brian Humprhries’ leadership.

Srinivasan has been associated with the American IT firm for over two decades. He has held several prominent roles in the company including Corporate Security, Global IT and sales and operations. He would remain with the company till August.

In an email to employees, CEO Brian Humphries wrote, “Shortly after I joined Cognizant, Srini and I discussed his career aspirations. He expressed his interest in transitioning out of Cognizant to pursue his next challenge, yet committed to stay in his role and provide his support for the next year.”

Humphries has brought in former Unisys executive Lawrence Wieser as Chief Administrative Officer. Wieser will succeed over the sales operations led by Srinivasan.

He was responsible for managing the company’s operations, including talent supply chain, utilization and ongoing operational excellence. In addition, Srini led Cognizant’s IT systems and infrastructure team, including business continuity.

Since joining Cognizant in 1998, he has played a key role in driving strong and sustainable growth, leveraging our deep relationships with clients by combining them with sound business practices, said the company.

Srini holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Trichy (formerly the Regional Engineering College) in India and an MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management.

Srinivasan’s exit comes almost within a fortnight of more senior exits this month. Among these exits are Jaideep Poondir, SVP in the banking and financial services vertical, Rajesh Balaji, SVP and global delivery head of enterprise application services practice, and Vinayambika Kidiyur, SVP and global delivery transformation head.

At least a dozen senior executives have left the company including Santosh Thomas, EVP, President of Global Growth Markets earlier this year and Gajen Kandiah, President of Digital Business and Digital Engineering and Sumithra Gomatam, President of Digital Operation among others, last year.
