Edtech platform UOLO ropes in ex-Amazon Anshu Sharma as CTO

Edtech platform Uolo announced it has roped in Anshu Sharma, a computer science graduate of the prestigious NSIT (Delhi), has been a technology leader for high scale, high growth companies like Amazon and Times Internet as the Chief Technology Officer of the company.

In his new role, he will be leading the entire engineering team at Uolo to build a scalable platform for K-12 schools, a statement said.

As Engineering Leader at Amazon, he headed the architecture and design of Amazon’s global Seller registration, data collection framework, and identity verification. In his previous experience he has managed the engineering and QA functions of the ET digital and subscription platforms, serving over 40 million monthly active users. He has been associated with organizations like hCentive and Agnity, which helped him expand his horizons and contribute to the exponential growth of companies, the statement said.

He will be responsible for inspiring and growing Uolo’s engineering team, driving forward the technical vision for the platform, and delivering the world class technology Uolo has become renowned and awarded for, a statement said.

Pallav Pandey, Co-founder, and CEO of UOLO, welcoming Sharma’s appointment, said, “Uolo’s aspiration to serve 50,000 schools and 20 million students by FY March 2025 requires a robust technology platform that can handle commensurate concurrent traffic and scale. Anshu has experience building scalable systems at Amazon and Times Internet. He shares our team’s mission of transforming the K12 education system and came out as an ideal choice for the CTO role.”

Anshu Sharma expressed his appreciation for the appointment and thanked Pandey for giving him this chance and for believing in him. “Uolo aims to democratize edtech solutions,” and as the company partners with more schools, there is a need to strengthen its digital platform. I could find purpose in Uolo’s vision to transform the K-12 Edtech and am delighted to join a team of hi-calibre, purpose driven people.”

“At Uolo, we are creating a digital pipeline which will allow Edtech products to reach the masses of India. We are architecting Uolo’s platform as a super-app similar to WeChat / Grab and are hiring 10x engineers to realise this vision” he added.
