IDBI Bank Limited announced the appointment of TN Manoharan as a Part-time Chairman, with effect from May 9, 2022.
According to the bank’s exchange filing, “In Continuation of Bank’s disclosure dated February 24, 2022, Board of Directors of the Bank have approved the appointment of Shri T. N. Manoharan, Independent Director (DIN: 01186248) as Part-time Chairman (PTC) of IDBI Bank, for a period of 3 years with effect from May 09, 2022, as approved by the Reserve Bank of India vide their letter dated May 06, 2022.”
TN Manoharan is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has served as the President of ICAI during 2006-07 and was instrumental in charting the road map for several accounting reforms in the Indian System and pioneered proactive amendments to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. He is a Law graduate and has authored books on taxation.
He was the Chairman of the ICAI of Accounting Research Foundation. He was on the Board of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), He served as the Administrator for Lakshmi Vilas Bank during November, 2020 appointed by the RBI.
He was the Non-Executive Chairman of Canara Bank for five years upto August, 2020. He was a member of the Governing Council for the Skill Development in BFSI sector. He was also member of the Advisory Board on Banks, Commercial and Financial Frauds constituted by the Central Vigilance Commission. He is an Independent Director of Tech Mahindra Limited. He is currently member of the Standing External Advisory Committee of the RBI for evaluating applications for Universal Banks and Small Finance Banks.
T. N. Manoharan received several awards including the “Business Leadership Award” from NDTV Profit in 2009 and the CNN IBN “Indian of the Year 2009” award in the Business category. The Government of India conferred him the “Padma Shri” award in 2010.
