Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ Company under Ministry of Power, Government of India, announced the appointment of Ravindra Kumar Tyagi as Chairman and Managing Director, with effect from January 1, 2024.
According to the company’s exchange filing, “this is to inform that in pursuance of Ministry of Power Office Order dated 19th December, 2023, Shri Ravindra Kumar Tyagi, Director (Operations), POWERGRID has assumed the charge of the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited with effect from 01.01.2024.”
R. K. Tyagi is an Electrical Engineer from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh and has completed M.(Tech) in Energy Studies from IIT Delhi. He is a “Fulbright Scholar” from Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He has over 33 years of industry rich experience in Power Sector at various key positions in leading CPSUs.
Prior to this, he was Director (Operations) POWERGRID. He has handled multidisciplinary work in various business areas of POWERGRID such as Asset Management, Engineering, Business Development (domestic and overseas), Telecom, Load Despatch & Communication, NTAMC, DMS etc. and Head of POWERGRID’s North Eastern Region.
