Credit Information Bureau, TransUnion CIBIL Limited, recently announced the appointment of its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Rajesh Kumar, who was earlier working with HDFC Bank as Group Head for Retail Credit and Risk, will now be joining the credit bureau as its new MD and CEO.
Kumar will succeed Satish Pillai, who is now elevated to become the President of Asia Region Business at the US-based company.
Before being appointed by CIBIL, Kumar was the Group Head for Retail Credit and Risk at HDFC Bank where he was the key member of the leadership team responsible for conceptualizing, managing and growing the bank’s retail credit portfolio comprising consumption loans, commercial loans, and vehicle loans along with the payment business of the bank. With two decades of experience at HDFC Bank, Rajesh helped grow its retail lending book to $50bn and led teams consisting of more than 3,000 bank officers.
In his role as the MD and CEO, Kumar will be responsible for steering CIBIL India’s business into the next phase by ensuring it continues to support the domestic finance industry and consumers.

A TAP Management Institute alumnus, Kumar has more than two decades of experience. Before moving on to a new role at CIBIL, Kumar worked with HDFC for 19 years since May 2000. Prior to HDFC, he was working with Transamerica Apple Consumer Finance as Risk Manager.
