Increased hiring activity at India Inc., in August 2018

Hiring activities at India Inc. continued an upswing after July 2018. As per monthly report from Timesjobs, August 2018 reported an overall 4% growth on month-on-month analysis of recruitment activities.

  • Hiring Grew by 33 Percent From August 2017 to 2018 Y-O-Y
  • Consumer Durables Bounce Back After 3 Months
  • India Inc. continued to hire aggressively in August 2018.

Industry that showed growth in hiring trends:

  • Consumer Durables created most jobs in the said month, followed by BFSI and BPO sectors. The Consumer Durables sector saw a year-on-year growth of 27% from August 2017 to August 2018, thus indicating significant job creation over the year. 
  • BFSI and BPO sectors grabbed the second and third position. Healthcare, IT/Telecom, Retail and Automobiles were other prominent sectors, generating jobs at India Inc. during the review period.

Jobs that showed increased hiring’s:

  • Talent demand for Sales/Business Development professionals increased by 8% as compared to July 2018, recording an overall 18% growth during the month.
  • The demand for Customer Services/Tele-Calling professionals maintained its third position from July 2018 among the top hiring profiles.

Among key locations, Delhi-NCR (10%) and Bengaluru (5%) witnessed maximum talent demand. Pune too matched up with Bengaluru, posting a 5% hiring demand. In August 2018, job creation in Jaipur was up by 4% as compared to July 2018.
 
The hiring sentiments gained momentum for freshers, posting a demand of 15% during the month. Professionals with experience of 10-20 years were also in demand.
