Insurtech platform Bimaplan has appointed Anurag Mishra as its new Chief Executive Officer, as the company looks to scale its operations globally and strengthen its focus on financial inclusion through embedded insurance.
Mishra brings nearly three decades of experience in banking and financial services, most recently with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he led trade, commodity, and supply chain finance for emerging markets. Prior to that, he spent over 15 years at Standard Chartered Bank, including a stint as CEO of its Nepal operations.
Bimaplan, which integrates insurance into digital platforms at the point of transaction, recently launched its first international program in Zambia and is now exploring opportunities in other parts of Africa and the Middle East.
“The global embedded insurance market holds immense potential to enhance financial inclusion,” said Mishra, adding that he aims to deepen partnerships and navigate regulatory environments in key growth markets.
The leadership shift comes as company founder Vikul Goyal transitions into a more product-focused role, while Mishra takes over day-to-day operations and international business strategy.
Founded in India, Bimaplan operates under Purple Umbrella Fintech and has served nearly 5 million customers to date. The company is backed by investors including Orios Venture Partners, Y Combinator, and Finsight Ventures.
