Freshworks, in partnership with Edunet Foundation, has launched the first edition of the Academy for Careers in Tech (ACT) program in Hyderabad. The 18-month, zero-cost skilling initiative aims to prepare young people from underserved communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for careers in the technology sector.
The program will be hosted at CMR Engineering College, which will serve as the central hub for training. Facilities include a 60-seat smart classroom, a computer lab, and counseling cabins to support both technical learning and career guidance.
Targeted at students without access to formal higher education, ACT combines technical training with life skills and mentorship. Outreach campaigns attracted over 1,000 applicants, with 48 students selected for the Bootcamp stage. The first cohort will train for 15 months, with a goal of graduating 30 students.
Nagesh Singh, Chairman of Edunet Foundation, said, “The Academy of Careers in Technology is designed to offer students not just skills, but real-world experiences and career direction.”
Sreedhar Gade, Vice President of Engineering and Responsible AI at Freshworks, added, “We’re equipping students from rural and migrant backgrounds with industry-relevant skills through a 15-month intensive program—ensuring they’re not just job-ready, but future-ready.”
