The Delhi government has issued Work from home orders for 50 per cent of its employees in the non essential services and has also provided advice to private organisations to follow the same owing to a spike in the cases related to COVID-19 in the city.
DDMA executive committee chairman and Delhi Chief Secretary, Vijay Dev, said in an order, “All government offices shall function with officers of the level of grade 1/equivalent and above to extent of 100 percent strength.”
The DDMA order also stated – “The remaining staff will attend up to 50 per cent as per requirement to be assessed by heads of the departments concerned (remaining 50 per cent of the staff will work from home) till December 31, 2020, or till further orders whichever is earlier”
Private offices are also advised to stagger timings and the presence of staff seeing the rise of the COVID-19 cases, the order added.
“DDMA has decided to reduce the number of government employees attending office at the same time, it has been decided that in respect of officials lower than Grade 1, only 50% of the strength shall attend office. Private offices are also advised to stagger timings & presence of staff,” said Delhi Revenue minister Kailash Gahlot in a tweet.
The proposal was sent to Lt Governor and Chairman of DDMA, Anil Baijal by Delhi government’s revenue department. It was approved on saturday.
Gahlot said to PTI – “The heads of departments will decide about how to implement it according to the requirements of staff at their disposal.”
The WHF order for employees associated with non-essential services does not include grade-one and above officers. It excludes departments like healthcare, police, guards, municipal services, fire, electricity and water among others.
