Volvo Cars has promoted Jyoti Malhotra as MD of Indian operations. Prior to this, Malhotra handled the role of director, sales, marketing and PR. Malhotra will replace Charles Frump who joined Volvo Cars India as MD in 2017.
Joined Swedish luxury car company in 2016, Malhotra holds more than 25 years of experience spanning Indian passenger car and commercial vehicle industry, spread across different areas and functions.
Prior to this, Malhotra had a stint with Fiat India, Maruti Suzuki, and most recently with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) as vice president sales.
Malhotra joined Mahindra Renault in 2008 as head sales and channel marketing at Mahindra Renault, and in 2010, he moved to Mahindra & Mahindra to handle North Zone business for the automotive division. He held this position for over six years till 2014 after which he was elevated as vice president of sales. At M&M, he was recognised for playing an active role in growing the automotive business and also for being instrumental in building a strong sales team and driving a culture of outperformance.
His diverse experiences, including field sales, channel marketing, business strategy, sales training, and used car operations, come as a significant value to Volvo business in India.
Malhotra holds an engineering degree from University of Pune, MBA (Marketing) from Bharati Vidyapeeth, and Global program for Management Development from University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
