The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur kicked off its new academic year with the inauguration of the MBA 2025–27 batch. The incoming cohort comprises 353 students representing 21 states and 3 union territories, reflecting the institute’s expanding national footprint.

The batch features a notable 14.5% of students with academic backgrounds from top-tier institutes such as IITs, NITs, IISERs, and IIMs. Engineering graduates make up 55.5% of the batch, while 44.5% come from non-engineering disciplines including commerce, science, humanities, law, healthcare, and management.

Commenting on the batch profile, Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, emphasized the importance of academic diversity in shaping effective future leaders. “This year’s cohort reflects a conscious shift toward interdisciplinary learning… It enhances classroom engagement, fosters collaborative problem-solving, and prepares our students to navigate the complexities of today’s interconnected world,” he said.

Students bring an average of 23 months of work experience from industries such as IT, BFSI, engineering, retail, and healthcare, enriching the learning environment with practical insights.

The orientation program included sessions on career preparedness, institutional infrastructure, international relations, and student well-being. Topics such as mental health and workplace conduct were also addressed, with a POSH sensitization workshop and a stress management session led by mental health professionals.

The inaugural event was attended by Volvo Eicher’s CHRO Sudeep Dev, who spoke about the changing corporate landscape and the importance of value-driven leadership. Academic achievements were also recognized with the Dean’s Merit List Awards.
