Ones reluctance at self improvement: Some observations.

Some observations about our reluctance at self improvement and self development.

1. We know our issues, gaps, and improvement areas but we are too reluctant to improve. Change is difficult. We don’t like changing and we don’t want to change. If we want to, we are too lazy or reluctant to take the first step.

2. We let life happen, seldom we try to change course. And if we do, it’s when we realize that there are no options left and we must “really” do some thing to influence the course of our life.

3. Most of our own improvement & development is an accident, it just happens in normal course of working. Very few amongst us take a conscious decision to improve and work upon our gaps and development needs (personal as well as professional).

4. Most of the time, we start introspecting when thing goes wrong. As long as life is perfect, and work is perfect we don’t care. Introspecting may not be the starting point to improvement. It definitely can be the starting point for self realization.

5. Once there is self realization,  and our development needs and improvement areas are ingrained in our sub-conscious, we unknowingly may start accepting new inputs for our betterment. Once these thoughts stay in our sub-conscious, we may undergo a behavioral change over a period of time.
