It’s raining jobs at top B-schools in India

B-Schools students nationwide eye on the placement season in their respective colleges. Many dream of getting in their favoured companies while many look out for a high paying job. After spending two years in college, they believe the placement season will reward them for their dedication and excellence. Students nationwide eagerly wait for this season and students who are aspiring for managerial courses also wait for the top B-schools to release their placements data so that they can circle on the college they want to take admission in. 

Like every year, top IIMs in India have released their placements data with many students getting placed in big companies. Here is a list of the top four colleges who have recently assisted their students secure their dream job. 

IIM Bangalore

The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) announced that it has received 518 job offers for its 428 students with consulting firms offering maximum number of jobs. IIM Bangalore witnessed its last phase of placements in which the students received 147 offers from consulting firms. 

Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co, Kearney, and McKinsey & Co became the top recruiters amassing 20 percent of the total jobs offered. Accenture offered 26 jobs, Boston Consulting Group (23), Bain & Co (20), Kearney (15), and McKinsey & Co (14). 

The e-commerce major Amazon was among the lead recruiters offering 20 jobs. In the IT sector, Microsoft IDC, Tata Consulting Service, Razorpay and Sprinklr became the key recruiters offering 38 jobs. Finance sector saw participation of some of the leading international firms such as Goldman Sachs, Avendus Capital and JP Morgan, offering a major number of jobs in the sector. Total job proposals in the finance sector stood at 42. India’s conglomerates- Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services, Adani Group made offers to hire 60 students.

IIM Calcutta

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) announced that it has completed this year’s placement process. Around 136 firms participated, offering 492 jobs to its 439 outgoing students. IIM Calcutta said that its students bagged an average salary of ₹28 lakh per annum… The premier B-School said while the average annual package of the entire batch was ₹28 lakh, the salary of top 10% and best quartile of the outgoing batch averaged at an all-time high of ₹54.5 lakh and ₹41.8 lakh, respectively.

The key recruiters in the consulting sector saw the participation of Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Co, Bain & Co, Kearney, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture. This sector saw major recruitments, capturing 31 per cent of the total job offered. General management and sales and marketing roles stood second in the number of jobs offered, amounting to 30 per cent of the total offers. TAS, Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance, Vedanta, TrueNorth, Hindustan Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Mondelez, and FIITJEE were some of the top recruiters in this sector. Product management, IT/analytics and operations domain saw 22 percent of the total offers. Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Amazon, Flipkart, Udaan, EXL Service, American Express, HCL, UnitedHealth Group (Optum) and Mastercard were some of the top recruiters in these segments.

IIM Lucknow

IIM Lucknow concluded its final round of placements for its 2018-20 post graduate batch, witnessing 100 percent placements for its 443 students. Major recruiters that participated in the placement drive include e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart. IIM-L said that the highest international salary offered was Rs 58.47 lakh and the best domestic salary offered was Rs 54 lakh. The mean and median salaries offered are Rs 24.25 lakh and Rs 23 lakh.

According to the IIM-L statement, about 140 domestic and international companies attended this placement drive to recruit 443 students of the 34 batch of the institute. Among the top recruiters were the e-commerce site Amazon, IT major Accenture, and top consulting firms such as Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), offering a total of 13 jobs. The Walmart owned Flipkart made 9 offers.

Rajesh Aithal, Chairman of IIM-L students’ affairs and placement wing, said, “With this year’s placements, IIM Lucknow has reinforced its presence among the top B-schools, and proven to be a preferred destination for organisations which select limited B-schools to recruit.” 

Strategy/consulting profiles got the highest 32 percent job offers, followed by operations/IT at 24 per cent, finance 19 per cent, general management 13 percent and 12 percent went to sales and marketing jobs. First time recruiters that participated in the placement drive were Bosch, FIITJEE, JCB India, Magicbricks, and state-owned ONGC.

IIM-Ahmedabad

IIM Ahmedabad completes Cluster 3 of the final placement process for its PGP Class of 2020. The third cluster placement was comprised of 12 cohorts. 

The 12 cohorts included BFSI, Consumer Tech, Core Manufacturing & Infrastructure, Education & Tech, Enterprise Tech, Food & Dairy, government enterprises, IT Consulting, Pharma & Healthcare, Renewable Energy & Green Tech, Social Enterprises & NGO, and Textiles.

The Consumer Tech cohort recruiters included firms like Microsoft, Sprinklr and BrowserStack. Tata Consultancy Services, extended the highest number of offers in this cluster – 12, followed by FinIQ – 11 (includes pre-placement offers).

First time recruiters that took part in the recruitment drive include DaytoDayHealth, HCL Technologies, Edfora and FIITJEE.
