Bajaj Electricals Ltd, a part of the Rs 380 billion Bajaj Group, on Thursday announced the appointment of Anuj Poddar as the Executive Director of the organization for a term of 5 years, effective immediately.
Bajaj Electricals Ltd is an Indian consumer electrical equipment manufacturing company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
As a part of his new role, Anuj Poddar will be responsible for managing all the business verticals and its operations and will be reporting to Shekhar Bajaj, Chairman, and Managing Director.
Shekhar Bajaj, Chairman, and Managing Director said “Anuj has been associated with Bajaj Electricals as a Non-Executive, Independent Director on the Board since May 2016. During this tenure, Anuj has provided many valuable insights which have benefitted the organization. He has also ably served as Chairman of the Audit Committee. ”
“In consideration of and before his appointment as an Executive Director, he resigned as an Independent Director of the Company,” the company said in a BSE filing.
Previously, Anuj Poddar was the Executive Vice President in Viacom18. In his over-decade long stint with the said company, he has a string of accomplishments. He spearheaded the formation of Viacom18, its foray into mass entertainment with Colors and architected its very successful journey of becoming one of India’s leading media and entertainment conglomerates. He also set-up the company’s operations in USA and UK, led the acquisition of the Indian Film Company leading to the set-up of Viacom18 Motion Pictures and has led strategy for MTV Networks Asia.
He is a member of BMW Foundation’s World Young Leaders’ Forum and has been on the Governing Council of CII-Young Indians. He has schooled in Mumbai, India and Michigan, USA and is a rank-holding Chartered Accountant.
