Areva T&D India changes its name to Alstom T&D India

Effective 31st Jan 2012, Areva T&D India Ltd. has changed its name to Alstom T&D India Ltd. This comes post acquisition of Areva’s transmission business by Alstom in June 2010. Areva T&D’s global business was acquired by a consortium of Alstom  and Schneider Electric in June 2010.

On 24th December 1011 board meeting the board had approved the proposal to change the name of the company. At the board meeting – the board also had approved the re appointment of Mr. Rathindra Nath Basu as the managing director of the company effective Feb 1, 2012, post expiry of his term on 31st January 2012.

Alstom in India is into power generation equipment. Areva T&D India Ltd is among the top three transmissions & distribution (T&D) players in India. The company is engaged in providing products and systems to transmit and distribute electricity, manage smooth energy flows and operate efficient networks through information management. The company caters to both, private and the public sector clients.

AREVA T&D currently employs more than 4000 people in India. and has about 8 manufacturing units & 22 sales offices.
