Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd  plans to invest another Rs 100 crore  in its Jammu unit. The funds would be directed towards expansion, up gradation and modernisation of its facility at Samba in Jammu district.

The facility had commenced phase-one commercial production at this unit in August 2006 with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.  The unit manufactures 140 drugs out of the Cadila portfolio of over 750 products. As per Dr Rajiv I. Modi  – the Samba unit contributes to one fifth of the groups turnover of Rs. 1500 crore.  Cadila Samba facility was the first factory to be set up at Samba when the J & K Government decided to provide tax benefits to attract investments.

Cadila is also looking at major expansions globally, including its planned foray in the US. Presently its exports to over 40 countries comprise about 30 % of its turnover.
