Flipkart allows work from home option to employees

In an attempt to prevent the transmission of the novel coronavirus among employees, e-commerce company Flipkart has offered its employees work from home option for three days. The offer is preferably made available to young employees whose children are studying up to fifth grade.

A Flipkart spokesperson said, “In addition, we are checking system preparedness for working remotely using digital/video tools.”

The Walmart-owned company has its largest number of employees working at its campus in Bellandur, Bengaluru.

The Karnataka state health department recently also asked companies in the state to not send employees overseas as a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19 and infecting more people on their return to India.

Several other firms in India have also advised their employees to work from home and implemented curbs on travel outside India. Fintech startup PayTM has closed all its offices in Delhi-NCR after one of its employees in the Gurugram campus tested positive for the virus.
