Amar Babu elevated to head Lenovo – APAC operations

Lenovo has elevated Amar Babu to lead the company’s operation in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, ASEAN, Australia, New Zealand, and India / South Asia.

Babu succeeds Ken Wong, who will become President, Lenovo Solutions and Services Group. Babu is currently serving as the Vice President & Service Operations Leader of Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group.

Prior to that, Babu served as the Managing Director, Lenovo India, and South Asia starting from 2007.

As the Managing Director for Lenovo India, he grew the company’s PC market share from 8% to 20% in less than a decade.

Prior to Lenovo, Amar worked at several leading Indian and global corporations, including Citibank, Idea Cellular, HCL Information Systems, and Intel.

He has also been a member of the Manufacturer’s Association for IT (MAIT), where he served on its Executive Committee for three years and worked closely with the government to create policies and initiatives to accelerate India’s digital transformation.

Amar Babu holds an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur and a BE from PSG College of Technology. He is based in Mumbai.
