AU Small Finance Bank appoints Malini Thadani to its Board

Private sector lender AU Small Finance Bank Limited announced the appointment of Malini Thadani as Non-Executive Independent Director on the company’s Board, with effect from November 25, 2022.

According to the company’s exchange filing, “we are pleased to inform that the Board of Directors of AU Small Finance Bank Limited (“the Bank”), at its meeting held on Thursday, 24 th November, 2022, on recommendation of Nomination & Remuneration Committee, has appointed Ms. Malini Thadani (DIN: 01516555) as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) on the Board of the Bank with effect from 25 th November, 2022 for a period of 3 years, subject to the approval of Shareholders.”

Malini Thadani has completed a Diploma Programme for Non-Executive Directors, conducted by Financial Times in Hong Kong, done a Programme in Social Entrepreneurship from INSEAD, Paris, France and Certificate of Public Administration from Ohio University, USA. She has completed the Cycle Special Etranger, at the Ecole Nationale D’Administration in France and has a Master’s Degree in Arts from Ohio University, USA, a Master’s Degree in History from Hindu College, University of Delhi and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.

She has gained acumen from two successful careers spanning over 4 decades, the first in the Indian Revenue Service and the second at HSBC in India and Hong Kong. She was Head of Corporate Sustainability, Asia at the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and has held leadership position in the areas of communications, sustainability, CSR and Public affairs at HSBC India.

Prior to that, she has held leadership positions at Indian Revenue Service from 1980 to 1995. She advises Corporates and not-for-profit Boards to design and operationalise the effective integration of sustainability, communications, and investor relations into their strategic vision, so as to future-proof their organisations. She is skilled in designing, developing and implementing large-scale, complex, crossborder sustainability projects in partnership with global and regional think-tanks, not-for-profits and academia, specialising in areas including livelihoods, employability, entrepreneurship, sustainable finance, environmental resource security. She has been a Strategic Advisor on Sustainability and ESG for Board level and senior business leaders and has held positions on international and regional Boards for industry bodies and not-for-profits, according to the statement.

She is a visiting faculty at the Indian School of Development Management (ISDM), where she teaches Sustainability, CSR and ESG. She has relevant knowledge and experience in the areas of Sustainability, CSR, Public affairs, Business Management and Risk Management. Currently, she is associated as Independent Director, trustee, adviser and as visiting faculty with various entities, the statement said.
