Axis Bank appoints new Chief Risk Officer and Group Executive

Axis Bank Ltd. has appointed Amit Talgeri as its chief risk officer for three years starting Jan. 1, 2020. He replaces Cyril Anand, who will retire from the services of the bank, with effect from close of business hours of Dec. 31, 2019, the private sector lender said in a statement to media. 

Additionally, Naveen Tahilyani has been appointed as group executive—head, banking operations and transformation—with effect from January 6, 2020. 

Tahilyani will lead operations, technology, strategy, and analytics from that day. Both Tahilyani and Talgeri will report to Amitabh Chaudhry, managing director and chief executive officer of the bank.

“We are confident that with these appointments, the bank will further consolidate its leadership position across multiple businesses, as we look forward to progressing to the next phase of growth,” Chaudhry said.

The private sector lender reported a 109 per cent rise in its profit before tax (PBT) for the quarter ended September 30, 2019. Also,the bank suffered a net loss of Rs 112 crore for the quarter due to a Rs 2,138-crore one-off deferred tax asset.
