Bajaj Auto appoints Ramtilak Ananthan as Chief Technology Officer

Bajaj Auto Limited announced the appointment of Ramtilak Ananthan as Chief Technology Officer of the company, with effect from April 1, 2024.

According to the company’s exchange filing, “Pursuant to Regulation 30 read with para A, part A of Schedule III of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 (“Listing Regulations”), we wish to inform you that the Board of Directors at its meeting held on April 18, 2024, based on the recommendation of Nomination & Remuneration Committee, have approved the appointment of Shri Ramtilak Ananthan as Chief Technology Officer and part of Senior Management Personnel of the Company, effective from April 1, 2024.”

Ramtilak Ananthan, before being appointed as the Chief Technology Officer, headed the Test & Validation at R&D department of Bajaj Auto Limited. He started his career at Bajaj Auto Limited in April 1994. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa, USA and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

Ramtilak started off in the CAE team developing programs for 1D simulations for Engine performance. In the initial phase of his career at Bajaj Auto Limited, he worked on design and development of M804S Engine platform, 3D Combustion simulations, Combustion measurement & analysis.

In 2006, he took over as Senior Manager – CAE R&D and led Structural, Vibration, Thermal fluid Simulations and NVH domains. He led the intensive R&D efforts on improvement of sound quality of our products to achieve a different sound character. From 2009‐2012, along with CAE, he started leading Power Train & calibration, Vehicle Testing, 2Wh Indoor Testing, 2W Vehicle dynamics. During this time, he made significant contributions towards fuel economy of Bajaj 2 Wheelers, with notable achievements like the DISCOVER M Program for 95 km mileage and Platina program for 100+ km mileage, according to the statement.

In 2013, he was promoted to the position of Vice President – R&D and started leading Commercial Vehicle CAE & Vehicle Testing along with 2Wh CAE & testing. As Vice President – R&D, he successfully led the transition of all Bajaj Auto Limited’s products to BS4 norms, as per the statement.

In 2019, Ramtilak was promoted to the position of Head – R&D to lead the complete Test & Validation function. Over the last 3 years, he has led the transition of all Bajaj products to BS6 and OBD2A norms.
