Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced the appointment of Sukhmal Kumar Jain as Additional Director and Director (Marketing) on the company’s Board.
According to the company’s exchange filing, “we hereby inform you that Shri Sukhmal Kumar Jain, ED(ln-Charge) Marketing Corporate has been appointed as additional Director and Director (Marketing) by the Board at its meeting held on 22.8.2022 with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation or until further orders whichever is earliest, in terms of letter dated 22.8.2022 from the MoP&NG.”
Sukhmal Kumar Jain is graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research. He has held several leadership positions in Retail, LPG and Gas verticals of BPCL in his 35 years with the company. Before his appointment, he was Executive Director In-charge (Marketing Corporate) and prior to that was the head of Gas Business Unit.
In his illustrious career of over three decades, he has been actively involved in industry defining initiatives, like Give it Up campaign and Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana, in LPG Business, and has successfully navigated the Strategy and Loyalty Programs in Retail Business. Under his leadership, Gas BU played an increasingly important role in supporting the Government’s aim of developing India as a gas-based economy, which augurs widespread economic prosperity, while also reducing the nation’s dependence on oil imports and contributing to reduction in carbon emissions. He is also the Chairman of Goa Natural Gas Pvt. Ltd.
Earlier, he has been the Chairman of Central UP Gas Ltd and a Director on the Board of Bharat Gas Resources Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of BPCL which has recently merged with BPCL. He is not related to any of the Directors in the Company. He is also not debarred from holding office of the Director by virtue of any order passed by SEBl or any other such authority.
