Carl Zeiss India appoints Santana Ramakrishnan as CHRO

ZEISS Group, a global technology leader of science in optics and optoelectronics, announced the appointment of Santana Ramakrishnan as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India and neighbouring markets, according to ETHRWorld report.

In this role, Ramakrishnan will be responsible for devising systems and processes to meet people and business needs in line with global corporate governance and standards. She will also closely collaborate with the global teams and functions to enable cohesive growth and transformation towards the company’s vision of ONE ZEISS, according to a statement.

Ramakrishnan comes with 20 years of experience in multi-national corporations. During the course of her career, she has worked across different departments in HR and across different geographies, with extensive stints in Asia and across client groups in Europe and Americas.

Previously, Ramakrishnan worked at AXA in key roles with the country businesses, Asia Regional Office, and Global HO. She also worked at Goldman Sachs and the Indian startup ecosystem such as Udaan.com and DealShare. She started her HR professional journey with GE Capital and credits much of her functional knowledge to the different stints within the organisation, as per the statement.

Ramakrishnan holds a Postgraduate Degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Stella Maris College, Chennai.

Founded in 1846, ZEISS Group is headquartered in Germany and employs over 40,000 people across 50 countries. The company has around 30 production sites, 60 sales and service companies and 27 research and development facilities as of March 31, 2023.
