Castrol India re-appoints Rakesh Makhija to its Board

Castrol India Limited, India’s premier lubricant manufacturer, announced the re-appointment of Rakesh Makhija as Independent Director on the company’s Board, with effect from October 1, 2024.

According to the company’s exchange filing, “It is hereby informed that the Board of Directors at its meeting held today i.e. Thursday, 1 February 2024, re-appointed Mr. Rakesh Makhija (DIN: 00117692) as an Independent Director for a term of five consecutive years from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2029, subject to approval of shareholders of the Company.”

Makhija has had an extensive career spanning over four decades, both internationally and in India. He served as an Independent Director and Non-Executive Chairman of Axis Bank Limited until October 2023. He also serves on Board of A.TREDS Limited.

During his career, he has held several top management positions within the SKF Group. He served as President for the Industrial market and as a member of the SKF Group executive committee. Prior to that, Makhija was President of SKF Asia with overall responsibility for China and India. He was the Managing Director of SKF India from 2002 to 2009.

Before joining SKF, Makhija served as CEO & Managing Director of Tata Honeywell Limited and subsequently as Country Manager & Managing Director of Honeywell International for South Asia. Prior to Honeywell, Makhija worked with Kinetics Technology International BV (now Technip), a process engineering and contracting company in the Netherlands for over eight years.

He is a Chemical Engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and was the recipient of the prestigious ‘CNBC Business leader award for Talent Management’ in 2007.
