Facebook appoints Avinash Pant as Marketing Head of India business

Facebook has announced the appointment of Avinash Pant as marketing director of India operations. The role of marketing director is a newly created role by Facebook India to look after the company’s marketing efforts across platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. Avinash will report to Ajit Mohan, who’s Facebook India’s vice-president and managing director. 

“Consumer marketing is a new strategic area of focus for Facebook and one where we will dramatically increase our investment in communicating directly to consumers. Avinash is one of the best marketers in the country, and I am delighted that he is joining us on this exciting charter to shape the voice of Facebook’s family of apps in India,” said Mohan as per a media report.

Earlier, Avinash was the marketing director of Red Bull, where he helped in building the brand especially amongst the youth through partnerships and content related to sports, music and dance. Avinash has a vast experience of 22 years handling different roles. He has worked with Nike, Coca-Cola and The Walt Disney Company. 

Talking about India, Facebook has been witnessing profits in terms of revenues in the  advertising sector. As per a media report, the company saw a 71% surge in its revenues from its Indian business in fiscal year ended March 31 2019 to Rs 892 crore and its net profit took an 84% leap to Rs 105 crore as the company shifted to the local selling structure for its ads model in October 2018.
