Former Vistara executive Sanjiv Kapoor joins GoAir as an advisor

Former Vistara Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer Sanjiv Kapoor has recently joined the domestic budget carrier GoAir in an advisory role. The appointment comes at a time when GoAir faces a crisis, like the rest of the industry.

Kapoor’s appointment is significant as the Wadia Group company has been battling through a crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. GoAir has halted several flights and taken measures to prevent cash burn.

Although Kapoor has confirmed his appointment, he refused to give any comment to the media.

Prior to joining GoAir, Kapoor had completed his stint with Vistara in December 2019. He was heading the Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines venture when the airline was growing aggressively, both in the fleet in size and network operations. It was under his tenure that Vistara launched its international operations.

Before Vistara, Kapoor was working with SpiceJet for two years. On speaking about his experience at SpiceJet, he said it “ “can be of great relevance today as the airline industry finds itself in a crisis of an unimaginable proportion due to the coronavirus outbreak.”

GoAir had recently terminated the contracts of its ex-pat pilots as part of its attempt to survive the crisis that the industry is facing.
