Future Lifestyle Fashions Limited (FLFL) announced that Rahul Mehta has resigned from the role of Chairperson and Independent Director on the company’s Board, with effect from January 30, 2023.

According to the company’s exchange filing, “We write to inform you that Mr. Rahul Mehta, has resigned from the position of the Chairperson and Independent Director of the Company with effect from 30 January 2023. He also ceased to be member of the Audit Committee, Stakeholders Relationship Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environment Social and Governance (CSR & ESG) Committee and Committee of Directors of the Company.”

Rahul Mehta has passed his MBA from the Bajaj Institute in 1971. He joined what was then called Goodlass Nerolac Paints Limited and rose rapidly to become the India Sales Manager by 1982 – when the Entrepreneurial bug bit him. He joined the Creative Group as Partner and later on became the Managing Director. He launched the UFO Jeans – perhaps one of the earliest International Brands to come to India. He oversees most of the Domestic Business of the Creative Group, such as 109F, Fusion Beats, Urban Republic Jeans, Portico, etc.

Mehta is acknowledged as one of the leaders of the Domestic Garment Industry. He has served as president of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) for 7 terms. Under his leadership, CMAI not only attained greater heights and recognition, but also increased the services to its members. This was possible due to his able stewardship and close liaison with the Government of India, including the ministry of textiles, the ministry of finance, and other government organisations and institutions.

He represented India as a Board Member on the International Apparel Federation (IAF) based out of Netherlands and was the first Indian to serve as the President of Executive Committee of IAF. He is a member of the managing committee of Apparel Made-ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council and a former member of the managing committee of the Apparel Export Promotion Council. He is also serving as a Director on the Boards of several Companies including Gini & Jony and Kamadgiri Fashion.

Rahul Mehta is extremely involved in fashion education and is Chairman of the Advisory Board of School of Fashion Technology, Pune. His experience makes him a popular teacher and lecturer and he has been a visiting faculty member to various Educational Institutions in Mumbai. He is also a regular speaker at innumerable seminars and Conferences.
