GE Hitachi names Adam DeMella as Global Government Affairs Leader

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), a global provider of advanced reactors and nuclear services, has named Adam DeMella its global government affairs leader, effective September 27, 2021.

In this position DeMella will lead GEH’s domestic and international government affairs. He joins GEH from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) where he served as director of federal affairs. Before that he served as a professional staff member for the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, overseeing a portfolio that included nuclear energy and national security funding within the Department of Energy.

“Adam has impressive mix of policy and government affairs experience and an in-depth understanding of nuclear technology and the energy industry,” said Jay Wileman, President & CEO, GEH. “As we work to deploy our reactor technology globally, Adam will play an essential role in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.”

DeMella started his career at U.S. Naval Reactors (also known as the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program) serving in roles over nearly 20 years that included engineering and program management, budgeting, acquisition and federal affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead GEH’s government affairs during such a pivotal time for the business and industry,” DeMella said.
