IFFCO Tokio General Insurance appoints Anamika Roy Rashtrawar as MD and CEO

IFFCO Tokio General Insurance recently announced that it has appointed industry veteran Anamika Roy Rashtrawar as MD and CEO.

Rashtrawar replaces Warendra Sinha, who retired from the company after leading it for three years. Her appointment will be effective from March 27, 2020, said a company release.

Rashtrawar is the first woman MD and CEO of a large private sector general insurance company in India.

IFFCO Tokio General Insurance is a 51:49 joint venture between IFFCO and Tokio Marine Group.

Rashtrawar was earlier working with the company as a Whole-time Director since June 2018.

A postgraduate in English from Kolkata University, Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter from The Institutes, USA, Rashtrawar has over three decades of experience in the insurance industry.

Prior to joining IFFCO Tokio, Rashtrawar had worked with Bajaj Allianz as Senior President. She has also worked with Tata AIG and the National Insurance Company in various roles.

Commenting on the Rashtrawar’s appointment, Satoru Komiya, President and Group CEO, Tokio Marine Holdings, said, “We are excited that Rashtrawar, a professional with 30-year industry experience, will lead one of our most important joint ventures. I am confident that she will continue building the company and position IFFCO Tokio as the leading general insurer in the Indian market.”

“She is a dynamic woman leader who has been on the board of the company and has successfully led many businesses in the company, especially the digitization projects. I am confident that Mrs Rashtrawar will take the company to the next level of performance in terms of customer service, sustained growth and profitability,” IFFCO MD U S Awasthi said.

Speaking about her new role, Rashtrawar said, “IFFCO Tokio is well-positioned to take on the emerging challenges in the insurance industry in India as it has the best team and excellent business partners and loyal clients. It is a tough time for any insurance company but nothing is permanent and this too shall pass.”
