India Power Corp. appoints Anup Bhargava as Managing Director

imageIndia Power Corporation (IPCL) has appointed Mr. Anup Bhargava as Managing Director with effect from 1st March 2012.

Mr. Bhargava, holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (Honours) from the Aligarh Muslim University, and has over 24 years of rich experience in the power industry. He has worked with various organisations, including BHEL, GE Power and Water.

Prior to joining IPCL, Mr. Bhargava was President of a Kolkata based utility company. Mr. Bhargava started his career with BHEL in 1987 and moved to Singapore by 1995 to take senior position for a power conglomerate. He was the  Asia Commercial Director – GE Power & Water, before moving back to India in 2011.

India Power Corporation Limited (IPCL) was set up in November 2003 with main objectives of Developing/Setting up, Installing, Operating, Generating, Distributing and Managing Power Plants in the country. The company has major Equity participation from renowned funds and is supported by LIC and Indian Banks. IPCL has formed India Power Corporation (Haldia) Limited – IPC(H)L – as an SPV in April, 2008 to set up the 450 MW captive power plant in association with Bhaskar Silicon Ltd. at Haldia.
