Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao appointed as NASSCOM Chairman; Rekha Menon gets elected as Vice-Chairperson

The National Association of Software and Services Companies or NASSCOM has recently announced the appointment of Infosys’ Chief Operating Officer UB Pravin Rao as Chairman for 2020-21. Pravin will be succeeding WNS Global Services Group CEO Keshav Murugesh.

The industry body also appointed Rekha Menon, Chairman and Senior MD of Accenture in India as the Vice-Chairperson.

Both the appointments were announced at Nasscom’s executive council meeting, conducted via video conference amid the 21-day lockdown announced by the Centre to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Speaking on the occasion Pravin said, “I’m thankful for the trust that NASSCOM’s Executive Council has put in me, and I look forward to serving the industry in this role. These are challenging times for the Indian IT industry, as we deal with an unprecedented situation. However, the Indian IT industry has time and again proven its resilience, and I have no doubt that this time too, we will emerge stronger and wiser. As we all adjust to a new normal, I hope to continue the great work that NASSCOM has been doing in transforming the industry and making it relevant in this digital era. I believe that our industry, more than ever, needs a focused approach towards building resilience, upskilling the workforce and contributing to our country’s growth, and I’m excited to be a part of this journey with NASSCOM.”

Commenting on her appointment, Rekha M. Menon said, “I am deeply honored. I look forward to working with NASSCOM and its leadership to ensure that our industry remains innovative and agile, as it unlocks opportunities, navigates challenges, and catalyzes sustainable, positive impact in our communities in the future.”

The newly appointed leadership along with President Debjani Ghosh will lead the industry body to carry out its wide array of objectives for the coming year in order to achieve their 2025 vision for the industry.

Outgoing Chairman Keshav Murugesh said, “This journey with NASSCOM has been a memorable experience for me. During my tenure, I had the privilege of working alongside the Government and some of the best minds in the industry to position India as a global hub for digital solutions, innovation, and future-ready talent. Future-proofing NASSCOM through on-going changes to charters and affiliates will ensure the organization remains relevant in an ever-changing business environment. I take great pride in the industry’s response and NASSCOM’s role in working with various stakeholders on work-from-home solutions as well as providing technology solutions in the wake of the COVID19 outbreak. Much has to be done in the days ahead to help tide over this crisis and we must stay agile. I would like to wish Pravin and Rekha all the success in their journey with NASSCOM.”
