JSW Steel Limited, a leading Integrated steel company in India, announced the elevation of Jayant Acharya as Joint Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, with effect from May 19, 2023.
According to the company’s exchange filing, “We now hereby inform you that, following the completion of term of Mr. Seshagiri Rao, Jt. Managing Director & Group CFO on 05.04.2023, based on the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the change in role of Mr. Jayant Acharya, the Board of Directors has elevated and redesignated Mr. Jayant Acharya as the Jt. Managing Director & CEO of the Company w.e.f 19.05.2023, from his current position as Dy. Managing Director.”
Jayant Acharya was appointed as Director (Sales & Marketing) in May 2009 and was re-designated as Director (Commercial & Marketing) in April 2010. He is also the Co-Chair of the Committee on Steel & Non-Ferrous Metals for Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Acharya holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree in Physics from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. He also holds a master’s in Business Administration from Indore University. He has over two decades of experience in the steel industry spanning the entire range of flat and long steel products.
