Jyothy Laboratories appoints S Raghunandan (ex Reckitt Benckiser) as its CEO

Jyothy Laboratories has appointed S Raghunandan as its CEO and whole time director. The company had been on look out for a CEO for quite some time, post its acquisition of Henkel. Last year the company had picked up Henkel AG’s majority stake in its Indian subsidiary. The deal had added to Jyothy’s existing portfolio of products with Henkel’s entire portfolio comprising of Henko and Chek detergents, Pril dish cleaners and Fa deodorant. The deal also had the provision and and rights to the multinational’s future launches.  S Raghunandan would provide leadership to the integrated business.

S Raghunandan , is an IIM Kolkata (1989 Batch) and BITS Pilani Alumni.  He has been heading Reckitt Benckiser as the company’s Managing Director for India prior to joining Jyothy Laboratories.His earlier career stints have been with Paras Pharmaceuticals as Managing Director , Dabur International as CEO. He had started his career with Unilever and spent about 12 years of his career with the company before moving to Dabur.

Jyothy Laboratories, set up in 1983, operates in categories like fabric care, mosquito repellants, surface cleaning, personal care and incense sticks. It has 28 manufacturing facilities across 16 locations across India

Jyothy Laboratories was set up in 1983 by Mr. M P Ramachandran – the current Chairman & Managing Director. Started as a proprietary concern, manufacturing and selling a single product in a single district, the organization has grown to become a multi-brand, multi-product company with operations all over the nation. In 2008, the company started its fabric care division and the company presently has products in – Fabric Care, Household Insecticide, Utensil Cleaners, Fragrances, Personal Care etc. Jyothy Laboratories, is well known for its Ujala brand fabric whitener, a market leader in the segment.

S Raghunandan (former Paras Pharmaceuticals) CEO, quits as India head for Reckitt Benckiser. Raghunandan, had moved in as India Head post the movement of former Reckitt Benckiser India Chairman and Head C M Sethi as region head for Reckitt Benckiser South Asia. Raghunandan , was picked by Reckitt Benckiser to head the India operations after its take over of Paras Pharmaceuticals for Rs. 3600 cr in December 2010.
