Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) announced the appointment of Mukesh Puri as Director and Chairman of the company.
Mukesh Puri is an lAS officer with 33 years of experience in public administration. He has done Post Graduation in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in International Political Economics from the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
He has held several important positions in the State Government and Government of India such as Collector and District Magistrate; Dy. Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA); Commissioner of Commercial Taxes; Principal Secretary, Education Department and Water Supply Department. Puri has held the position of Managing Director, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL); and Chairman, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), the statement said.
Puri has also worked with UNICEF for a period of 3 years.
He is presently posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, Government of Gujarat, and also holds additional charge of post of Managing Director, Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, Vadodara.
GIPCL was incorporated in 1985 as a Public Limited company under the of Government of Gujarat.
