Oyo Leadership Reshuffle: Aditya Ghosh elevated to the board

In a recent leadership reshuffle, Oyo Hotels and Homes has elevated their South Asia and India CEO Aditya Ghosh to its board. Rohit Kapoor, currently the CEO of their new real estate business Oyo LIfe, will be taking over Ghosh’s position.

Ghosh’s elevation comes exactly a year after he joined the hospitality aggregator. He had taken over the CEO’s role at Oyo after a career of more than a decade at IndiGo. Rohit Kapoor will now take over from Ghosh. Prior to Oyo, Kapoor was an Executive Director and a member on the board of Max Healthcare, a joint venture between Max India and Life Healthcare in South Africa.

Ghosh has a strong law background and is among the most sought after top executives, considering his role and contribution to the growth of IndiGo. Under his leadership, the airline rose from a start-up stage and emerged as one of the top airlines in India. His appointment as the CEO last year was in line with the Oyo strategy, which over the years have carefully built a strong talent pool with seasoned executives to drive its growth story. Ghosh is also an investor in Expert Network start-up SpeakIn

In a statement to media, Group Chief Executive of Oyo, Ritesh Agarwal said, “Aditya’s strong business acumen, problem-solving capabilities, passion for building an organization with strong corporate governance and a high performing work culture that thrives on principles of diversity and inclusion, makes him the perfect choice for this larger and more strategic role, at a global level.”

Ghosh will now join Mark Schwartz, Goldman Sachs; Munish Varma, SoftBank Vision Fund;  Bejul Somaia, Lightspeed India Partners Advisors; and Mohit Bhatnagar from Sequoia Capital on the company’s board.

Oyo currently operates over 18,000 hotels and 270,000-plus rooms across India and South Asia. Oyo has recently also bought Hooters Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas in a major push for expansion in the United States of America.
