Quantinuum appoints Rajeeb Hazra as Managing Director

Quantinuum, a quantum computing company, announced the appointment of Rajeeb (Raj) Hazra as Quantinuum’s Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. 

Current Quantinuum Managing Director Ilyas Khan is stepping down but will remain on the company’s management team. He remains a member of the board of directors and will become vice-president. In addition, he will continue to work full-time in the company as a senior executive and drive product development and innovation as Quantinuum’s first Chief Product Officer – a position he is deeply interested in.

Raj Hazra has over three decades of experience in supercomputing, quantum computing and in technical positions around the world. He will work closely with Ilyas Khan and the management team to accelerate quantum computing and advance the commercialization of the business. He takes the lead of an organization that currently numbers more than 480 people, which achieves real breakthroughs in drug discovery, healthcare, materials science, cybersecurity, energy transformation and climate change.

Most recently, Raj Hazra was senior vice president and general manager responsible for IT and networking, and prior to that he was senior vice president responsible for corporate strategy and communications at Micron Technology where he was based in San Jose, California. There he established the Office of Corporate Strategy, working closely with the Chief Executive’s teams to define and implement a five-year strategic plan for the company. As Managing Director of the company’s largest and most profitable department, he was responsible for a P&L of more than $12 billion annually and a global team of commercial operations, market development and of customer support, distributed between the United States, Europe and Asia.

Prior to that, he spent 25 years at Intel Corporation, where he led the Business and Government, Technical Computing, Supercomputer Architecture and Planning, and Systems Technology Research groups. There, he transformed the organization to focus on a hybrid, multi-cloud infrastructure world, driving new products and partnerships. He also transformed the business and reignited growth after several years of decline with novel strategies to harness the shift to hybrid multicloud and enterprise use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. He also has extensive technical experience, having led teams of several hundred researchers across multiple regions.

Raj Hazra holds a PhD and MS in Computer Science from College of William and Mary in Virginia, USA and a BS in Computer Science from Jadavpur University in Kolkata , India.
