Updated: 20th September: Reliance Jio has announced the appointment of Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar, as the CTO for Mobility business. This update is based on an internal communication released by Jio announcing the appointment.

Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar, ex Airtel, is expected to join as Group Chief Technology Officer for Reliance Jio*. This position was left vacant after the resignation of Jagbir Singh, who had held the position since his joining Reliance Jio prior to their soft launch.
Jagbir had joined Reliance Jio in 2015, and has been instrumental to the setup and group at Reliance Jio where he made significant contribution to the successful launch of pan India 4G LTE services.
Earlier in July 2018, Reliance Jio Group CTO, Jagbir Singh and CTO for Bharti Airtel mobile networks, Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar had put in their papers. It was stated that Shyam, has exited to move up the ladder in his career path.
Jagbir Singh, and Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar both have a history with Bharti Airtel. In his earlier stint with Airtel, Jagbir was the CTO & Director – Networks and member of the Airtel Management Board.
Most recently, Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar, was CTO for Mobile networks at Airtel. This was his second stint at Airtel. Earlier, for a short while he was with Lebara Mobile, UK. In his past tenure with Airtel he had handled diverse portfolios as head of network services, network architecture & engineering. He had started his career with C-Dot, and was with Department of Telecom for about 7 years before joining Airtel for its fixed line business.
