Tata Steel BSL (TSBSL) announced it has appointed Pratik Chatterjee as new Chief Financial Officer, effective July 23, 2021. Pratik succeeds Sanjib Nanda, who stepped down from his role as CFO to take up a new role at Tata Steel Limited, TSBSL’s parent company.
In 2018, Tata Steel acquired Tata Steel BSL Limited (formerly known as Bhushan Steel Limited) through its wholly owned subsidiary Bamnipal Steel Limited.
According to the exchange filing, “Consequent to the stepping down of Mr. Sanjib Nanda as Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel BSL Limited (‘Company’), the Board of Directors on the recommendations of the Audit Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has considered and approved the appointment of Mr. Pratik Chatterjee as the Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of the Company.”
Prior to being appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel BSL Limited, Pratik Chatterjee was Chief – Portfolio Transformation and Investment Management, Tata Steel Limited.
Chatterjee joined the Tata Steel Group in 2001 and has worked in various Tata Steel Group companies such as Tata Ryerson (currently known as Tata Steel Downstream Products Ltd.) where he served as Chief Financial Officer (‘CFO’) and M/s JCAPCPL – a JV between Tata Steel, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal where also he served as CFO before joining Tata Steel Limited (‘TSL’) in 2017.
At TSL, Chatterjee has been responsible for managing the business and financial aspects of TSL’s investments in its group companies in India, including valuations for various acquisitions of the Tata Steel Group, valuation and structuring of various IBC asset acquisitions, finance and portfolio restructuring, performance and financial planning for various group companies and corporate simplification Tata Steel’s group portfolio.
Prior to joining the Tata Steel Group, Chatterjee worked in various positions in McDowell India Ltd, United Breweries Ltd. and Frigoglass Group of Greece.
With a professional career spanning over 24 years, Chatterjee has held various positions in accounting and financial management covering various roles including Plant Financial Controller, Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance and Treasury, Enterprise Risk Management, Business Strategy, Corporate Valuations etc.
Chatterjee is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant (Inter). He is a member of the Direct Tax and Indirect Tax Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata and the Finance, Accounts and Banking Committee of CII, Eastern region.
