Walmart India appoints Sameer Aggarwal as Deputy CEO

Walmart India, the Indian business arm of the American multinational retail corporation, has appointed Sameer Aggarwal as its Deputy CEO.

In a media statement, a company spokesperson said, “Sameer Aggarwal has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Walmart India effective 1st January 2020. He will continue reporting to Krish Iyer, President and CEO Walmart India, and oversee operations, merchandising, people, marketing, real estate, kirana development program, digital, eCommerce and strategy.”

Sameer has over two decades of experience across industries in general management, strategy, finance and mergers and acquisitions in various countries.

Walmart Inc. operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. The company was founded by Sam Walton in 1962 and incorporated on October 31, 1969. It also owns and operates Sam’s Club retail warehouses. As of October 31, 2019, Walmart has 11,438 stores and clubs in 27 countries, operating under 55 different names.

In his most recent assignment, Sameer was working as the Chief Finance, Development and Supply Chain Officer for KFC Thailand. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the London Business School and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
