Welspun Enterprises Limited, an infrastructure development company, announced the appointment of Sudhir Mital as Independent Director of the company, with effect from May 12, 2022.
According to the company’s exchange filing, “Kindly note that the Board at its meeting held on May 12, 2022, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has approved appointment of Mr. Sudhir Mital (DIN : 08314675) as an Independent Director for a period of 4 years with effect from May 12, 2022 subject to approval of shareholders.”
Sudhir Mital is a former member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from Punjab Cadre. He has had an illustrious career of over forty years in public service, spanning across sectors from food safety and agriculture to developmental financing of Small and Medium Enterprises to corporate governance and market regulator, both at the State as well at the Centre.
His last assignment with the Government was as Member of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and then its Acting Chairman, an office which he demitted in November, 2018. He was Special Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs as a key functionary engaged in the evolution of Companies Bill, 2013.
Sudhir Mital brings with him a rich professional experience in Strategic Management and Planning, Public Policy, Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development.
