Haryana to double salaries of healthcare officials and workers fighting Covid-19

Healthcare officials and workers involved at various levels are the ones fighting this battle at the forefront against the coronavirus pandemic. The exposure health workers are facing with every passing day is making them more prone to get afflicted from the virus, but despite risks involved they are continuously present in the arena to take up the challenge and are putting all efforts to deliver their duty with full dedication. State governments are acknowledging their importance in these times and hence leaving no stone unturned to help and support them in all manners. 

In a recent announcement, the state government of Haryana has decided to double the salary of all healthcare officials and workers who are tackling the Covid-19 outbreak in the state. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar made this announcement through a video address, as per a media report.

Haryana becomes the first state to take such a step to motivate health workers to continue their fight against the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus.

“We have taken this decision after deliberations with the state health minister (Anil Vij). All those health officials, including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and class-4 employees working in hospitals, as well as staff working with ambulances and testing centres will be paid double the salary till this continues,” Khattar said, as per media report.

Recently, the Haryana state government issued an advisory to industries and commercial establishments, asking them not to terminate their work force and deduct wages during the current lockdown, enforced to check spread of Covid-19.
