Hospitality sector , more jobs in Tier 2, 3 cities..

India, has since long been facing shortage of quality budget accommodation as well as standard luxury accommodation. Over last decade there has been lot of activity in the hospitality sector with new properties being developed, new brands getting in and international chains increasing their reach and penetration. With all this happening the quality of placements from Hotel Management schools also improved. It seems there is more in store on the job front in hospitality sector.

 

Taking the trend forward, while there is good news for business travellers, leisure travellers, there is also good news for all those engaged in hospitality sector as of now, and all those who are planning to get into hotel management schools.

Two of the leading hospitality groups have displayed their intent to augment their investment in Indian hospitality sector, and would be opening a number of hotels over next few years.

Best Western International Inc. USA

The World’s Largest Hotel Chain® Best Western International Inc, USA is planning 66 new hotels in India within the next five years as part of the company’s aggressive business expansion plans and its continued focus on the growing needs of the Indian hospitality industry. These hotels will be spread across the country in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities with a special focus on key manufacturing and trading cities. Best Western’s expansion plans will see an inflow of Rs 1600 crore investments into the Indian hospitality industry.

The company plans to open 10-15 hotels every year in India and will also focus on the growth opportunity beyond the metros where quality hospitality is just emerging especially in the Tier 2- Tier 3 cities”.

Chatwal Hotels & Resorts along with Wyndham Hotels

New York-based Chatwal Hotels and Resorts is planning to invest Rs 2,000 crore (Rs 20 billion) to open 52 hotels in India in the next five years. The company has tied up with international hospitality major Wyndham Hotels for the expansion of its hotel brands Dream and Night.

Chatwal Hotels & Resorts will manage the planned number of properties and Wyndham will provide sales and marketing support. “In the next 10 years, we want to have 100 hotels in India,” said Sant Singh Chatwal, the non-resident Indian (NRI) hotelier, also chairman and CEO, Hamp-shire Hotels and Resorts.

Ramada is one of the well known brands from Wyndham operating in India.
