IIT-Delhi and IIT-BHU see an increase in salary packages even amidst pandemic

In the first phase of placements, IIT-D received 300 offers. This also includes pre-placement offers. Whereas, IIT-BHU saw 396 offers in the first slot.

IIIT-BHU saw a total of 30 companies making job offers on the first day of placements.

  • They offered 217 jobs with annual CTC ranging from Rs 64.2 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh pa.
  • This is an increase from last year’s range which was between Rs 58.21 lakh to Rs 10 lakh pa.
  • A total of 1,365 students applied from which 396 have already been placed.
  • Companies having come to hire students from IIT-BHU include Alphonso, AppDynamics, Codenation, Flipkart APM, Microsoft, Jaguar, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Bajaj amongst others.
  • On the second day of the placements, companies like Paytm, Deloitte, Oyo, ICICI came to the institute.

IIT-Delhi received 300 offers on the first day of placements. However, this number also includes those students who got multiple job offers.

  • Around 13 students have opted out of the placements and will pursue entrepreneurship after their graduation.
  • Such students get the option of being able to avail placement services once for up to 2 years.
  • Recruiters like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Intel, etc came to the university in the first round.

The institutes have taken several steps due to which they have witnessed a rise in salary packages offered to the students compared to last year.


All institutes have moved their placement process online. IIT-Delhi conducted virtual placement process for the first time whereas IIT-Madras had already started online internship process.

Some institutes like IIT-D and IIT-M have also allowed students who couldn’t bag their preferred job last year to reappear in the current round of placements.

The Office Career Services (OCS) at IIT-D is also providing various other services like test series, expert talks, seminars, etc to help students prepare for the virtual placement process.
