IITs see a rise in placements even amidst the pandemic

According to Moneycontrol, there was an increase of 20% in the numbers of offers and salary offered by companies on the first day of IIT placements, a trend which continued on subsequent days.

This shows that placement sentiment has been quite positive this year. Following campuses received higher packages or number of offers this year compared to previous year:

IIT-BHU

On the first day of placements, companies like Codenation, Flipkart APM, Microsoft, Jaguar, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Bajaj, etc visited the campus.

The companies offered 217 jobs with annual CTC ranging from Rs 64.2 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh pa. This is an increase from last year’s range which was between Rs 58.21 lakh to Rs 10 lakh pa.

IIT-Bombay

On Day 1 of the placement process, IIT-Bombay saw participation of 135 companies including Optiver, Microsoft, Uber, Texas Instruments, Apple, Bain amongst others.

Optiver, a Dutch firm, extended the highest international offer of Rs 1.39 crore pa whereas Sony Japan extended an offer of Rs 1.14 crore per annum.

Compared to this, last year, the highest offer was made by Microsoft of Rs 1.17 crore per annum.

IIT Roorkee

Till the last slot of the fourth day,  125 companies visited the campus including Cleartax, EXL Services, Jio Platforms Ltd, Navi Technologies, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, Swiggy, etc.

The 585 offers by the companies include 8 international offers and in the domestic category, the highest package of Rs 80 lakh p.a.

IIT Guwahati

By the end of the third day, 153 companies offered 526 job offers.

The highest offer in the domestic category stood at Rs 70 lakh p.a.

IIT-Kanpur

The number of companies which visited the campus this year came down from 300 last year to 230 this year.

However, the campus received handsome domestic and international offers, the highest offer being Rs 1.47 crore per annum by an MNC.
